Curation
This project was aimed at compiling a diverse range of fine art graduates work into one anthology.
The goals of the project where to create a publication that allowed for an undergraduates writting submission to have a life of its own post graduation but also placed emphasis on the writting process as an individual practice, one that wasnt simply an add on.
We produced 198 copies of the publication which was funded by the Glasgow School of Art and the GSASA. All of the copies where free to take away and displayed along side the FACsimile exhibition held at the GSA Degree show.
‘Le Salon D’echangiste‘ was the sequel to the previous years ‘Salon des inclusions’. The previous show aimed to get as many exhibiting artists as possible, this one however wanted to challenge that concept.
All artists who submitted where accepted however they did so with the knowledge that their work would be given to another participant and they would then recieve a piece themselves.
This placed the artist with a question of how they valued their own work but also how they valued the work of their peers.
At the end of the exhibition we held an actuion style live deinstall where all the works where removed and handed to their new owners.
‘Borders’ was an exhibition designed to explore devision, history and displacement. Exploring how artists from many different backgrounds approach their own individual experiences but are unified by the existence of borders in whatever form they may present themselves.
The exhibition and specifically its curation didnt take any particular stance while assesing the works for display but rather allowed for an inclusive venue for disscusion and thought. Seeing the gallery space as a neutral territory that attempts to break down these traditional borders.
‘Work in Progress’ offers a unique way to experience artwork within an exhibition, as the viewer is aware of the fact that any given piece will likely change before it meets the public again, and in somecase would become entirely unrecognisable.
Within this context the idea that the exhibition is seen as the start of something becomes for more active, as public opinion and interaction appear before the stage something might be considered ‘artwork’. During the show we also held open crits for artists to participate in and also placed a particular focus on performace art that in its
very nature is fluid and constantly envolving.
The salon show was the biggest show that has ever been put together by the GSA Gallery society. We exhibited over 100 works from students and staff from all departments at GSA.
The show opened from March 21st - 19th of April 2024
It was Sponsored by Bruichladdich Distillery and Drygate Brewery .
Night shift was an exhibition that I put together as part of GSA Gallery society with the goal of reversing the normal structure of an exhibition. Taking the opening hours and reversing them.
Forcing all visitors to come during the night. May 6th to May 9th 2024. The exhibition was sponsored by Drygate Brewery and Civerinos .
We curated a show based around the ‘Fluxus’ movement. Selecting works that responded to this in a broad sense, still including work of all media to allow a broad range of artists to submit. December 11th to December 15th 2023.
Momentum was the first exhibition that was held by the gallery society. The main goal of the exhibiton was to establish us and what our intentions where. We wanted to carry this momentum and exciment around the exhibition in to other shows. May 25th to May 31st 2023.
